The washing machine is in the laundry room rather than the bathroom, so a load can run while everyone else gets ready.

Running a load

Five steps, start to finish.

  1. Load the drum loosely

    Leave a hand's width of space at the top. An overfilled drum does not rinse properly and will not spin.

  2. Add detergent

    Detergent is provided — use it in the drawer or drop a capsule straight into the drum.

  3. Close the door until it clicks

    The machine will not start on a loose door.

  4. Choose a cycle

    See the typical settings below — one of them covers almost everything.

  5. Press start

    The door locks while the drum is turning. That is normal.

Pick by what you are washing, not by the number on the dial.

Cottons, 40 °C

The everyday choice — T-shirts, jeans, towels, bed linen.

Quick wash

A small, lightly worn load you need back the same day.

Delicates, 30 °C

Wool, silk and anything with a hand-wash label.

Spin on its own

Wrings out a load that came out wetter than you wanted.

Programme names vary — follow the dial on the machine; model details will be added once verified.

When it finishes

Take the washing out

Empty the drum once the cycle ends. Wet washing left inside overnight comes out smelling of the drum.

Leave the door ajar

Leave the door open a crack so the drum and the seal dry out for the next guest.

Something wrong?

If the machine stops mid-cycle, will not open, or you see water on the floor, switch it off and message us straight away. We answer within 1 hour during waking hours (09:00–22:00).
